SPINNINGS

WEEK OF MARCH 10, 2022

On March 3rd, President Rod and President-Elect Dick warmly welcomed District 5150 Governor Danielle Lallement and Assistant Governor Matteo Rizzo to the Rotary Club of San Mateo.

It's official!  Anthony Tansimore, Executive Director of the Peninsula Humane Society, is our newest member.
Congratulations,
Anthony!
If you attended on March 3rd, you're now the proud owner of these two pins.
One is for this year's theme, "Serve to Change Lives."  San Mateo Rotarians will have that chance on April 9th during the District 5150 Day of Service at Coyote Point focused on protecting the environment.
District Governor Danielle Lallement gave inspirational remarks about her work managing two Adult ICU Units and two Rapid Response Teams at UCSF in the midst of COVID.  She is indeed serving to change lives!
Anthony Tansimore introduced himself to the Club by sharing how his love of animals began during his childhood in Virginia where his family had many animals.  Although trained as a lawyer, he has devoted his career to consulting for non-profits and city governments.  When the Peninsula Humane Society offered him the opportunity to serve as Executive Director, he jumped at the chance and hasn't looked back.  His advice to us, "Adopt an animal!"

District Governor Danielle shared her Rotary experiences, including founding the San Francisco Evening Rotary Club in 2013 to provide a Rotary experience for those who can't make a meeting during the day.   She claims to be the oldest member (hard to believe!) and the only one with a checkbook!  Governor Danielle movingly described what the past two years have been like as the medical profession has battled COVID.  Despite the daunting challenges, her message was one of hope.

She concluded her remarks with wise words from Rotary Founder Paul Harris:

This is a changing world.  We must be prepared to change with
it.  The story of Rotary will have to be written again and again.

Governor Danielle suggested all San Mateo Rotarians participate in these upcoming District 5150 events:
