MEGA THANKS TO OUR NEW LEADERSHIP TEAM!

THANKS ALSO TO THE NOMINATING COMMITTEE FOR ALL OF ITS WORK OVER THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS:  co-chairs BILL KENNEY & BARBARA EVERS & MEMBERS JOHN BARRETT, ANNE CAMPBELL, SKIP HOWIE, ROD LINHARES, AND SUSAN WINKS.

Rescued from whatever lurks at Poplar Creek! Our Rotary Bell & President's Gavel are now back amongst us!

Thanks to President Joan, Scott & Phyllis Smith, & Tony Villanueva for valiantly launching
an expedition into Par 3 to reclaim our
marooned Rotary gear.

They couldn't locate our badges & centennial table decorations, but the City of San Mateo is on the case.

Everyone hopes the missing items eventually are found and returned.
Why are Tom Door & Don Leydig so pleased with themselves?

They were the ultimate winners of President Joan's "Guess the Arrival Date & Birth Weight" for Angel & Osh's new arrival!  Elijah Ron Saunders  greeted the world at 7 lbs 9 oz on November 20th.

Tom Door's was the closest guess for arrival date at November 19th. There was a tie for Elijah's weight among Don Leydig, Nicole Cherok, Barb Evers, & Bernie Mellott. President Joan conducted a tie-breaker & Don emerged victorious. Hence, the bubbly!
The December 3rd meeting heralded the launch of Vision 2030 & Beyond, our Club's plan for the future.

President Joan began the several months-long process by reviewing our Club's hallmarks as Fellowship & Service Projects. Then, she asked Rotarians to consider what they like best about our Club, what would make us even better, how we can attract new members, and what our Club should accomplish over the next 3 - 5 years.

This session was the first step in crafting a new strategic plan which will emerge as discussions continue over the next few months.
As part of Vision 2030, Rotarians first worked individually to capture their thoughts about our Club's past, present, and future. Then they shared their responses with elbow partners.   Next, the Board facilitated table top discussions which resulted in lots of suggestions captured on giant yellow Post-Its.

Eventually each table group shared their responses with everyone. PE Nick and Vic Carboni provided their table's suggestions. President Joan dutifully collected all of the Post Its. The Board will compile the input to determine next steps. Stay tuned for what comes next!

P.S.  If you missed the meeting and would like to share your thoughts about the Club's future, please send President Joan an e-mail.  She'll include your feedback with the other input.
With the advent of the Holidays, several elves have made their appearance among San Mateo Rotarians.

Here's one of them, festively posed with a bottle of bubbly at the December 3rd meeting.
Maybe he's wishing he could imbibe a bit of bubbly to help him on his way as he spreads holiday cheer?

Rumor has it that the elves are spending time with two Rotarians who are hosting them and photographing their activities. Be sure to come to the December 10th meeting & the Holiday Cocktail Party on December 17th  to learn more!
It's not too late!

There's still time to RSVP for the SM Rotary Holiday Cocktail Party on Tuesday evening, December 17th, at the SM Elks Lodge. Everyone is encouraged to bring guests as well as a White Elephant Gift to exchange with fellow unsuspecting Rotarians. Go to the link below to buy tickets:

Deadline to RSVP is December 10th!

Should be a wonderful way to celebrate the holidays together! Looking forward to seeing everyone
then & there.
