president joan opened the new rotary year on july 9th at the traditional summer picnic in Central park . the weather cooperated, with rotarians appreciating the interlude between heat domes.

Rotarians then proceeded to enjoy a delicious bbq lunch, congenial fellowship, and a quick overview of the year ahead from president joan.
judging from the smiles as rotarians left the meeting, the picnic was a rousing success. as the afternoon continued, perhaps a siesta was on the agenda?

Shawn DeLuna and Mark Avelar endured the heat of a massive BBQ while adeptly
grilling
beef & chicken kabobs as well as a variety of brats. Hungry Rotarians happily devoured the results!
To honor the birthday celebrant of the day, Carey Gorgolin-
ski led Rotarians in an exuberant rendition of "Happy Birthday." Tom Door's July 9th birthday
coincided with this year's picnic. He enjoyed the serenade!
President Joan extended a special thank you to Dave Bennett who took care of planning the menu and ordering all the food. Perhaps President Joan is also discussing the merits of the amazing caramel brownies versus the yummy
cookies served for dessert?
