President Skip made his presidential debut speaking to a most attentive audience! Be forewarned - President Skip intends to bring back the fine tradition so he warned Rotarians not to call attention to themselves or they might fall prey to his fining fancy.
Chef Dave worked on his side of the grill to make sure the kabobs & sausages were cooked to perfection! It was hot duty, but he's a natural BBQ tender and everyone enjoyed the results!
Chef Extraordinaire Shawn wielded his trusty set of tongs as he deftly turned ears of corn and assorted sausages to get them ready for hungry Rotarians! His efforts did not disappoint as everyone made quite a dent in the assorted options when they were served.
Sue Lempert arrived with the news that the San Mateo City Council will be honoring her years of service to the community at its August 18th meeting at City Hall.Council Member Diaz-Nash confirmed that the item will be on the agenda at 7:30 pm and encouraged all Rotarians to turn out as the Council expresses its appreciation to Sue for her service over the years.
A relaxed Past President Joan and a dapper Jeff, sporting a stylish Yeti cap, enjoyed the gorgeous day that greeted Rotarians as they arrived at Beresford Park. Not too hot, not too chilly, not too windy, but just right for a delicious picnic lunch and friendly Rotarian fellowship! A great way to kick off the new Rotary year!
Peter & Gary thoroughly enjoyed every pre-picnic sip of perfectly chilled bottles of Stella Artois. The ultimate accompaniment to grilled sausages and the biggest kabobs probably ever served at a Rotary picnic! Thanks to Dave Bennett for securing all the food and all the Rotarians
who helped set up, serve, and clean up.
Ray reminded the Club that the annual Car Show is on the horizon Saturday, 9/13, on the hill at CSM.

Don and Brian presented Desiree Lyons, Greg Lance and Sarah Press with Paul Harris - Tier II Awards for their work with the Effect, Namaste, and San Mateo Rotarians in providing microcredit loans and financial literacy training to Guatemalan women. Brian and Don have been stalwart Rotary stewards of The Effect over many years.
