San Mateo Rotarians Erin Sinclair and Nick Rogers provided an informative and insightful overview of what we might anticipate from the Economy this year. Erin noted while the year ahead may be one of moderation, we should expect more volatility in the markets with inflation a key risk.  Nick reminded us of the importance of diversification as we build our portfolios and suggested considering a pivot from growth to value stocks as we move into a dramatically different economic environment.  A memorable observation from Nick:  "Make sure your advisor is older than 50 and remembers the dot com bust!"

Papa Dave Bennett proudly introduced his daughter, Shasta Addessi, Chief Operating Officer for Kaiser Permanente - Santa Clara.   She gave an overview of the changing health care landscape, focusing on the consolidation of delivery systems, disruptive competition, telehealth, and the continued shift to outpatient services.  She also discussed current health care challenges, including rebuilding trust in an era of skepticism, disparities in health care based on economic means, the cost of care, and the difficulty of retaining health care professionals, especially nurses.   She shared this striking statistic:  "1 in 4 Americans struggles with depression and 1 in 3 with anxiety."
