A picnic, a centennial gala & a scholarship luncheon will be among May's highlights. Remember not to come to Poplar Creek on May 7th or 14th!
May 7th - The Effect Picnic at Beresford Park
Chef Extraordinaire Shawn & Menu Planner Enthusiastique Dave invite you to the annual picnic in Beresford Park where we'll get together with the Effect and learn more about the microcredit work with Guatemalan women. Remember to bring cash to pay for lunch - no credit card machine connection!
May 15th - Centennial Gala Dinner
Hard to believe it's almost here! Tony Villanueva & the Gala Dinner Committee have planned what's sure to be the dinner of the century! You'll have an opportunity to meet Rotary International President Gordon, enjoy a sumptuous dinner, and revel in the history of our Club's first century. Remember - No meeting at Poplar Creek on May 14th.
May 21st - Scholarship Luncheon
We'll be back at Poplar Creek after several weeks away to salute this year's scholarship recipients. The Scholarship Luncheon is always a highlight of the Rotary year so be sure to come early because parking will be at a premium! With thanks to Sheila, Laura, Jeff and everyone who has worked so hard to select this year's recipients. An event sure to rekindle your hope for the future!
May 28th - Professor Richard Leo
Our speaker on May 28th will be Professor Richard Leo from the University of San Francisco. He is a noted legal scholar who specializes in researching interrogation procedures and false confessions. Be thinking of questions you'd like to ask!
A donation for the ages!
Bob Binn, Chair of the Rotary Foundation Legacy Program, announced at our April 30th meeting that Tom Stucker recently donated $100,000 to the Rotary Foundation. The Club appreciatively acknowledged Tom's gift with a rousing ovation.
Tom took the microphone to encourage others who are considering a legacy donation to the Foundation to do it now and not let days turn into weeks turn into years turn into decades. Instead, Tom invited Rotarians to make a "premortal" donation now.
