SPINNINGS - Week of November 28, 2023

This Week's Speaker - Don Tamaki

California Reparations Task Force member

California Reparations Task Force

Be sure to attend this week's Rotary meeting.  We'll be joined by Don Tamaki, a member of the California Reparations Task Force. He will share recommendations presented by the Task Force to the California State Senate, Assembly & Governor in June 2023.

"I thought I knew something about American history.  I thought I was
pretty well read....I discovered I knew next to nothing."
                                            ---Don Tamaki

The nine member California Reparations Task Force was created in September 2020 to study historical and current racism and exclusion experienced by African Americans in California.

What are reparations?  The Task Force used the International Law Definition of Reparations: Compensation, Rehabilitation, Restitution, Satisfaction, and Non-Repetition.

Mr. Tamaki will discuss the three years of investigation conducted by the Task Force, their conclusions and recommendations.  His presentation will also include a Q & A session, so come with questions!
